The Professional House Cleaners at Two Maids & A Mop love a good cleaning challenge! Today’s challenge… splatters, spills, and baked-on food mess in a microwave!
Ask any Two Maids Professional House Cleaner (PHC) and they’ll tell you the number one rule for cleaning a microwave: NEVER SPRAY CHEMICALS INSIDE A MICROWAVE!
Some chemicals may break away the interior of your microwave and/or taint any food placed inside. At the very least, these chemicals will often alter the flavor and smell of food – who wants a bowl of oatmeal that tastes like Lysol? Yuck!
Our Two Maids & A Mop PHCs recommend starting the cleaning process by cleaning the interior of the microwave. It is best to remove the glass plate and wash it in the sink with warm soapy water. Use a melamine foam (we love Magic Erasers!) or cloth with soap & water and wipe out the inside. This helps remove any crumbs and baked on splatters. If you have extremely stubborn spots, place a bowl of water in the microwave and “cook” until boiling. Then repeat the above step. The moisture of the water should loosen the cooked-on food and make removing much easier.
Next, dry the inside of the microwave with a clean cloth & return the glass plate after drying it well. Follow up with wiping the outside of the microwave with a microfiber cloth & small amount of glass cleaner or stainless-steel cleaner. (Always be sure to follow the cleaning product directions!). Lastly, give the outside a good buffing.
You should now have a squeaky clean microwave, both inside and out!
