How to Get Your Summer Body by Cleaning

Many people say they don’t have time to go to the gym because they have housework to do. Luckily, you can have both your clean home and your summer body, simply by turning these common chores into exercise: 

Vacuum lunges 

If you’re going to vacuum, you might as well get a workout, too. To do this, do a full lunge while moving the vacuum forward, and bring your feet back together when you pull the vacuum toward you. Lunges can increase your lower body strength, including your quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes. However, make sure you are doing the exercise correctly in order to avoid injury and ensure results. 

Bathroom calorie-burner 

A great way to get in shape while also preventing a summer cold is to clean your bathroom. Not only will you get rid of germs, but scrubbing down the bathroom can help you burn 256 calories per hour! Gardening cardio 

Once you earn your summer body cleaning inside your house, you may want to show off to friends and family. But before you invite them over for a barbeque, you may want to do some yardwork. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control, gardening is compared to “moderate cardiovascular exercise,” meaning you can get in shape by weeding, digging, raking and planting. Gardening can work all the major muscle groups: legs, buttocks, arms, shoulders, neck, back and abdomen, while improving flexibility and acting as a great stress reliever. To increase this workout, take a break from gardening and run around the outside of your house a few times or take the dog for a walk. These are all great ways to work on your to-do list, get some exercise and take advantage of nicer weather!
