The Trick (or Treat) to Scary Stain Removal

It’s Halloween season, which means ghosts, witches and ghouls are all around! It also means there are some scary stains that you may soon have to deal with, such as fake blood on your carpet and face paint on your furniture. But have no fear – Two Maids & A Mop is here!

Fake Blood

If your little vampire went a little overboard with the gore décor, rubbing alcohol may be your favorite trick (or treat). When removing fake blood from your home, make sure to first remove any excess. Then, wipe away the stain with rubbing alcohol. Specifically for carpet stains, read the label on any carpet cleaner you use to make sure it is the right one for your flooring.

Face Paint

Wouldn’t it be nice if the face paint used to complete your child’s costume actually stayed on his or her face? Instead, it usually ends up all over clothing and couch pillows. The good news is, if the face paint is water-based, the stain should easily come out with soap and water. As with your carpet, be sure to read any care labels before trying DIY stain removal on furniture and clothing.

Glitter

Perhaps the scariest of them all is glitter, because glitter doesn’t leave once the party is over. If your first attempt at removing glitter with a vacuum doesn’t work, try using a lint roller on the area. This will help pick up those hard to get pieces without sacrificing your clean hands. Don’t have a lint roller? Tape works, too!

Halloween can be fun, but if you don’t want to face the scary stains that come with it, Two Maids & A Mop can help. Give us a call both before your Halloween party to make sure your house is ready for guests, and after to help clean up any Halloween messes.
